Making Your Social Dance Parties Exciting & Profitable

Never leave anything to chance

Dancing is good for the mind and body.

My favorite activities in a dance studio are their social dance parties. Once students begin to dance with each other, they begin to find the true joy in ballroom dancing.

They begin to meet others with like interests and can help each other become better dancers much more quickly. It is where your school transforms into a sea of smiles, laughter, music, and movement.

However, to a studio manager, the end-of-the-week party is the beginning of what will appear on next week’s sales report. Every party should be organized and planned out with that in mind, leaving nothing to chance.

For example, announcements are often shouted out in the middle of the dance while some folks are in the bathroom, stepping outside to have a smoke, or just not there listening to what you have to say.

Remember, these parties have a purpose other than just offering an extra event in your studio’s service window. Therefore, if what you have to say is important enough, then you want everyone at the party to hear it. You want people to be excited while listening to your announcement.

Your announcements should be targeted to make people take action and the more people that hear you, the more impact your words will have.

If there is an event in the near future and you want to plant the seed deep especially if it is a showcase or competition, start by having a student/instructor perform a routine at the party, most people at the party won’t want to miss it, and then announce the activity you are promoting.

Now, you have everyone’s attention at the party, and they see a student, just like themselves, performing a fun routine – (A dance routine is a product). The announcement has 10 times more of an impact than if it was just bleated out during a break at the party.

Ballroom dance group class.

Most studios have a group class before their dance party. This is super smart planning because it gets people meeting each other, socializing, and having fun. Great way to start a party – “On a high!”

If it is a beginner’s group class, even better! Because when a school’s parties are open to the public, people come in as first-time customers, realize learning to dance is an attainable goal, and leave as new students.

If your school is big enough, try to have an advanced group also. Advanced groups will bring more of your advanced dancers out before the parties and offers one more service to go along with your evening’s event.

As long as your dance parties are open to the public and the public is aware of it via posts on the internet, newsletters, and other social media platforms, you can have incredible money-making social dance parties, as long as they are planned, organized, and consistent.

Having killer parties takes practice but your students will thank you for the effort. They will buy more lessons, bring guests to enjoy what they love, and will spread the word on every one of their social media platforms.

If I was ever asked what I think is the greatest money-maker in your school, I would say your weekly social dance parties. Taking a dance lesson is tons of fun however, utilizing your dancing at a dance party is what makes taking lessons worthwhile. The more students have a reason to dance the greater the value is of each lesson.
